You will no doubt have heard with concern about the international spread of "swine flu" from Mexico around the world in the last few days. At time of writing (1st May) there have been confirmed cases in Mexico, Canada, the US, Costa Rica, Peru, the UK, Netherlands, Spain, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand and Israel. The likelihood of a pandemic has increased, but a pandemic is still not inevitable.
