Friends right now I am placed at Ho a small town in Volta Region of Ghana. Working in the Social Welfare Department. Here I am working for the people leaving with disability in the CBR programme. At the same time I am trying to bring some awareness about sexual health, reproductive health and child care in the community. Everyday is different and new experience for me.
Here I just can not avoid to mention that scenic beauty of Volta Region is superb... specially the SKY... I am mesmerized by the SKY of Ghana...
What were you doing before volunteering
In India I worked in HIV/AIDS segment with FSWs/MSMs, and in Women and child issues for last 7-8yrs. Have worked in West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Maharastra.
Hi Shelly
Greetings! Nice photos of yours ,you have shared with us. I am sure you are fine there. You are lucky to work in Volta region in Ghana, You have to be cautious of gunnie worms(tape worms) when you walk in the volta river. Without shoes dont take venture. All the very best.
Hi Shally, working in Volta region must be very interesting. This area is affected by major issues of human slavery mostly child labor in the fishing trade. Did you had the opportunity to work with them too. Many organizations are working on to eradicate this problem.
